This is what you will do:
You will be involved in variety of experimental tasks and analyses to support Alexion’s cell line development (CLD) processes. You will learn and apply various biological principles in mammalian cell culture related to stable cell line development. You will be working in a cross-functional environment, collaborating with other scientific staffs in Upstream Process Development. You will have the opportunity to get hands on experience in advanced CLD techniques and technologies.
You will be responsible for:
- Performing literature study and collect enough data to support the assigned project
- Designing and performing experimental studies to optimize, characterize and improve our cell line development process within the scope of the assigned project
- Documenting study results in laboratory notebooks
- Generating technical reports and presentations with the findings/results of the performed experimental studies
- Summarizing and presenting the observed results during the department meeting
- Aiding routine laboratory management and maintenance procedures
You will need to have:
- Completed some of the core courses towards a BA or BS degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
- Good interpersonal, collaborative, written and oral communication skills
- Experience with MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Desire and ability to learn new techniques and use problem-solving skills
- The duties of this role are generally conducted in a lab environment. As is typical of a lab-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: lift/carry 15/30 pounds unassisted/assisted; work comfortably in a controlled environment with and around biological, infectious, and hazardous materials; gown/disgown PPE; use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.
We would prefer for you to have:
- 0-1 years of experience working in a relevant laboratory setting
- Experience in aseptic cell culture technique
- Experience in handling mammalian cell culture
- Knowledge in any programming language
